About pickleball

Never heard of pickleball?

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world—and for good reason. It’s fun, social, and easy to pick up, whether you’ve played racket sports before or not.

It’s played on a smaller court than tennis, using a paddle and a lightweight plastic ball. The rules are simple to learn, and most people can start enjoying rallies within minutes.

Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, but with a strong focus on control, positioning, and strategy rather than power. This makes it accessible for all ages and abilities, while still offering plenty of challenge as you improve.

Basic Rules

Pickleball is quick to learn, and you can start playing almost straight away. Here are a few simple rules to get you started:

Serve underarm: The serve must be hit underarm and land diagonally in the opposite service box.

Double bounce rule: After the serve, the ball must bounce once on each side before players can volley (hit it in the air).

No volleys at the kitchen: The “kitchen” is the non-volley zone near the net—players can’t volley while standing in this area.

Play continues: After the first two bounces, players can either volley or let the ball bounce.

Scoring: Points can only be won by the serving side, and games are typically played to 11 points (win by 2).

It’s a simple game to start, but there’s plenty to learn as you improve! If you want to learn more about the game, or give it a go, then get in touch.
